LOVE SPELL BAR OF SOAP SHOWN
Florida Keys, Islamorada Gifts in the Rain Barrel including Handmade Soaps, unique art and great local hospitality!
We are a Gift Shop and a Unique Art Gallery, at the Rain Barrel in Islamorada, with ideally suited items, many which are perfect as a birthday gift, bridal gift or party gift, in short inexpensive gifts for any occasion. In fact, one interesting item we offer is custom made Artistic Soaps. We offer these fantastic soaps by the single bars, loaf, half a loaf, or quarter loaves for those special occasions where a single bar or two is not quite enough, AND OF COURSE these soaps are made in the good ol’ United States!
These soaps may make any room smell wonderfully fresh, and as a soap use it to enhance the softness and natural oils of your skin. As a room freshener, just place one or two bars on a dish in the bathroom for instance, on top of a surface which allows the soaps to breathe, and leave it there, wetting it every few days or so, (the air-condition or heater may tend to dry it a bit), and it will keep reinvigorating and freshening the room. Over time you may want to change the scent, simply order another unique soap, and use your existing soap to bathe or shower!
In our Gift Shop, Tropical Zen located at the Rain Barrel Artisan Village in Islamorada, the fabulous Florida Keys, we have a great selection of specialty bath accessories, as well as a good selection of Calcite. We also pride ourselves with a selection of Special Art created by local Artisans, and made in the USA. In our gallery you’ll find paintings, enhanced photographs, “Giclee”, prints, ceramics, and “raku” art, of unique designs similar to our elegant soaps.
As we expand our web base business, we will continue to add unique items to satisfy the most discriminating taste. So keep checking with us from time to time, for “new” soaps and other products.
While you are browsing through our home page, We encourage and invite you to check out our; LEARN MORE page, where we give you details about many of our products, as well as short bios of some of the artist that create the many pieces we show, as well as discuss their special talents, and the goals in their creative process. “BETSY THE LOBSTER”
In the 1980′s sculptor Richard Blaze spent 5 years assembling and painting the giant lobster at his workshop on Coco Plum Marathon. Betsy is detailed, biologically accurate depiction of a female spiny Florida lobster. By the time he finished, the company that had commissioned the work for the lobster was out of business.
The 30 foot tall and 40 foot long lobster was acquired by Treasure Village owner Tom Vellanti and his family, to be used as a landmark for the shopping plaza near mile marker 87 in Islamorada. (somewhat across the street where she resides today!)
After Mr. Vellanti’s passing, his family members retained the lobster, and when the Treasure Village became a charter school in 2006, “Betsy” needed a new home. She was disassembled and moved for refurbishment and possible sale. “Betsy” went on Ebay, but no suitable bids were received.
The Berry family who owns the hurricane proof fiberglass structure, finalized a deal with the Rain Barrel for a lease with a purchase option.
“BETSY THE LOBSTER” is happy with her new home in the RAIN BARREL ARTIST VILLAGE located at mile marker 86.7 in Islamorada where we are. The artists and visitors alike adore her at the Rain Barrel, and she has easily become one of the most photographed items in the Florida Keys.
Have your picture taken with Betsy, our famous lobster, so come on down!!. Bring your lover or the whole family to our Island, to see “BETSY”, for a zen-full experience and memories that will last a lifetime.
